Pleasanton, CA – July is National Ice Cream Month!

ice-creamIn 1984, President Ronald Reagan designated July as National Ice Cream Month and the third Sunday of the month as National Ice Cream Day (this year it will be July 19th.)  He recognized ice cream as a fun and nutritious food that is enjoyed by a full 90% of our nations population.

The top five individual flavors in the United States are:  Vanilla -30%, Chocolate – 10%, Butter Pecan – 4%, Strawberry – 3.7%, Chocolate Mint Chip – 3.2%. 

So this July 21st, celebrate ice cream, and go out and have your favorite flavor.

    Very interesting! I will put July 21st on my calendar as my new day to make homemade ice cream in honor of one of my favorite Presidents.
